Marsala… Color of the year 2015

Released by Pantone, the official color for 2015 is Marsala. What does this mean exactly? Well whatever you want it to. For me it usually starts with a nail polish and then I might decide to adopt Marsala in other ways around the home or in fashion.

My initial thought was UGH…. Weird pooey shade of burgundy wine. yack. And then thought hmm… I already own a polish in this color so perhaps embrace Marsala in that way.

I certainly approve of Marsala in the cooking sense… love me some indian spicy yum yum…. Ok no, I can’t talk about Indian food right now, currently paying for recent sins of caloric suicide over the holidays, at even the thought of butter chicken or naan, I would be guaranteed to gain another ounce or two. No. Only Marsala protein shakes will be discussed in this post.

I’ll keep you up to date where I might dabble in the new baby color of 2015.

Shall we reminisce for a moment on years past, 2014 gave us Radiant Orchid, honestly never really got there, borderline bubblegum. Now 2013 was Emerald, yes yes yes loved it, and in 2012 Tangerine Tango, perfection.

(at least I do, perhaps the rest of you think.. huge freakshow. I’m ok with that) Love you all and wish you nothing but loads of inspiration to try something new in 2015.

Decorating my home.. of the Christmas Variety

Some of us really enjoy decking the halls.

For me, a creative beast, Christmas decorating is a disease, something in my blood I was born with. Its an opportunity that comes around once a year to release some pent up ideas and just let er rip!

This year my “Christmas Style” (I hate the word “theme” I will never use it, and please refrain from using it in my presence) only exception kids birthdays can be themed) is inspired by a cabin in the woods. It works well as my home is already pretty much a cabin, all 1400 sqft of its character and coziness.

Anyway lets get to it, think wildlife, fur, wood, rustic, a wee bit of sparkle, it is the holidays after all.

Please share your own festive decor projects, as you can tell I get off on this kind of thing. Enjoy!

Come home to me 1255 College Drive

IMG_1739This home is like walking into a hug from your Mom. It has that warm fuzzy family feeling about it, a place you want to come home to at Christmas and play games in your pajamas all day.

The kitchen invites all activities of life, from feasts to homework.

The family room is spacious yet cozy with the gas fireplace. Light streams in all the windows, a different view out of each one.

College-044 College-049What are you going to do after the kids are tucked in?… Escape to the master suite, it feels like a room you might find in a resort, a three sided fireplace and gorgeous soaker tub, Hello!! Yes please.

College-065 College-062 College-058The other awesome feature of this home is the fully finished basement with ginormous ceilings and endless possibilities! Let me list some of the options to get the creative juices flowing….. a basement suite, hair studio, host a student, maybe your adult child that hasn’t quite spread his wings?, wine cellar, home theatre, daycare, massage and esthetics, home brewery, library, play room, the in-laws would be quite comfortable, and of course the ever popular man cave. Need I go on, this basement could be anything you can dream up!

College-071 College-081I could go on and on about this place, in fact it may even require a part two post in order to cover all the admirable qualities. I’m thinking I won’t have time to write a second post because the word is out now and the buyers are going to swoon at a chance to come home to 1255 College drive.

I go to the movies…. A LOT.

Movie Review LUCY

Went to check out a flick the other night with a certain cool chic.LUCY, Scarlett Johansson, 2014. ph: Jessica Forde/©Universal Pictures/courtesy Everett Collection I suffer from a bit of a movie going addiction. I will drag anyone alive and willing to the movies with me. It might be something about the luscious kernels they serve up dripping in calories, the other thing that is truly magical about the movie theatre is that for 2 whole hours the phone goes on silence and you slip into uninterrupted bliss, no chance of glancing at the massive pile of unfolded laundry, the dog doesn’t need to go out, its pretty much a safe house for interruption, does a persons mental health a world of good.

LUCY would not be a movie I would normally be jumping up and down to see. Surprisingly it was kind of a decent flick. Dudes for sure would appreciate it. Obvs what man doesn’t love Scarlett in an action packed bloody sci-fi! That being said, the story was creative, aside from covering my eyes once or twice shielding the blood, it wasn’t bad. I say good one to compromise going to with the man in your life.

I give it a 3.6 kernel rating out of 5

Stay tuned for my opinion on more movies!
